FAQ 7: Lens replacement
How often should scleral lenses be replaced?
There is currently no clearly defined scleral lens replacement schedule. A recent US study found a 2-year average replacement period for scleral lenses but additional studies are needed to identify what impact scleral lens age has on ocular health and vision. Lenses should be checked at least annually to assess the condition of the lenses as well as the fit and prescription. Lenses can become damaged with scratches, chipped, cracked or warped over time.
